Webinar 5: Collaborative Leadership

Research shows that collaborative skill is one of the key competencies that global leaders must develop to be successful in the global workplace.   Collaboration is defined as a mutually beneficial and well-defined relationship entered into by two or more organizations or individuals to achieve a common goal they are more likely to achieve together rather than individually.

Collaborative leadership involves maximizing all of the human resources in an organization by empowering individuals and giving them an opportunity to take leadership positions in their areas of expertise.  Each person participates with his/her skill, knowledge, and cultural background.  Collaborative leaders must understand the value of collaboration, know when to collaborate and when not to collaborate, and foster a team environment across organizational boundaries to achieve common objectives.

ABOUT THE CORPORATE GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP WEBINAR SERIES

Most large enterprises today are becoming globalized. They need leadership that can harness the creativity and innovation of multicultural and geographically distributed teams for better productivity and significant improvements to the bottom line.

Our network partner Marshall Goldsmith, in his book Global Leadership: The next Generation, has described the five characteristics of global leaders that resulted from researching 120 organizations. We call these leaders Corporate Global Citizens. The five competencies and subject of our Webinar Series are as follows:

Webinar 1. Global Mindset means that corporate global citizens look at the world from every possible angle, intuitively synchronizing themselves to the prevailing culture, social trends, levels of technology, and the dynamics of the local political-economic realities. In effect, they become world citizens, because they are never perceived as foreign wherever they might be (Ed Cohen). Recorded Webinar available to all registered participants.

Webinar 2. Cross-Cultural Competence means understanding national, regional, ethnic, industry, organizational, professional, gender and age cultures, and having the ability to interact, lead and manage effectively in these cultural environments (Karine Schomer). Recorded Webinar available to all registered participants.

Webinar 3. Tech Savvy means enthusiasm in understanding technology advances and its strategic use for the organization. The corporate global citizen views technology as an integral part of life – not believing that is  something important for staff and operations but not for me (M. Goldsmith).Recorded Webinar available to all registered participants.

Webinar 4. Partnering Skills is the ability to negotiate complex alliances and manage complex networks of relationships while simultaneously building positive, long term, win-win relationships (M. Goldsmith). Recorded Webinar available to all registered participants.

Webinar 5. Collaborative Leadership is about getting the right people together in the right way: convening is a more critical skill than commanding (Peter Block). Recorded Webinar will be available to all registered participants.
